1944-1945 collection of Japanese POW correspondance (36 letters) including numerous censor seals and stamps written in Japanese and/or English and mainly on rice paper. The letters originate from the following cities: Hakodate (4), Tokyo (2), Osaka (12), Zentsuji (6), Fukuoka (5), Hiroshima (3) and Chosen (Korea, 4). Correspondance includes letters from POWs (including Dutch), Red Cross Committee members, family members etc. Topics largly relate to the frustrating lack of communications, medicins etc., but letters of gratitude are also present. Neatly described and of historic significance!
