Giant Tortoise 12 cents reddish violet on envelope. Between 22 March 1938 and 3 Sept 1939, the EAMS air mail rate was 12 cents for a letter not exceeding 15 grams. This cover went by sea from La Digue Island to Mahé, then by sea to Mombasa. This cover probably left there on 27 Jan. carried by the Flying boat "Ceres" arriving in Southampton on 31 Jan. 1939.
