Auction 256 march 2023
Our 256th auction entails extensive collections and stocks of Netherlands and colonies, the first part of the impressive C. Avezaat collection (single frankings and first day covers) and the second part of the P. van Alteren collection (Dutch numeral cancellations). In addition we offer better lots foreign countries (especially French colonies), coins and picture postcards.
Proef Mercuriuskopje met gevleugelde helm in grijszwart, formaat indruk 13x13 mm. (totaal formaat 17x17 mm.), betreft een originele proef uit 1850-1853 met het preparaat van Vurtheim, oplage was 24 stuks (volgens archief Joh. Enschedé) waarvan 21 stuks vernietigd. Op de rand aan de achterzijde is een nummer 22 zichtbaar (van de 24?). Tot heden 2 van de nog bestaande 3 ex. bekend (ander in Nationaal Archief). Uitvoerige documentatie betreffend onderzoek aanwezig. Uit recent onderzoek is verder gebleken dat deze proef met de productie van bankbiljetten in verband gebracht kan worden (en niet van postzegels).
