Edward VII 4 cents carmine on Chinese Imperial postcard 1 cent with handpainted drawing of 2 Chinese warriors on reverse from Shanghai 26-3-1909 to Amsterdam, very fine

1890 (20 feb) 1d. carmine on cover from Muzimnene (the name of the stream adjacent to Bremersdorp township) to M'Dimba, cancelled by manuscript Muzimnene 20-2-90 and with Embekelweni cds (21-2) at right, a remarkable cover sent at the correct local rate, of being one of only two such manuscript cancellations on cover recorded (see Van der Molen pp. 27 and 34) with BPA certificate 1989 - a very rare cover - flap reverse roughly opened mentioned for accuracy only, Provenance: T.V. 1891 1d. carmine and 2d. olive-bistre pair (perf. 12½) on cover from Embekelweni cancelled by 718 numerals in blue and cds Embekelweni 20 FE 91 (unusually on reverse of cover) to Einbeck Hannover Germany, London transit cds MR 25/91 in red at lower left and additional on reverse cds Steynsdorp (21.2), Cape Town (4.3) and arrival cds Einbeck 25/3/91, an attractive cover (Van der Molen p. 41) Provenance: Talbot Cox

1892 2d. olive-bistre (perf 12½ x 12), strip of three and two singles and 6d. blue on registered envelope from Bremersdorp to Hannover Germany, all cancelled by the squared-circle Bremersdorp/Swaziel/12 MEI 92 in blue also showing the oval framed "R Z.A.R." and the oval London registered transit datestamp (13.6) in red, on reverse cds Steynsdorp (13 MY), Johannesburg (21 MY), Cape Town and Hannover arrival (14.6). A very attractive cover franked 1/4d. being 6d. for registration and 10d. for double rate of 5d. per ½ oz to Europe. (Van der Molen p. 37), wax seal on reverse removed. Provenance: Talbot Cox
